Inside Reboundog - Beyond the Scaffolding
As we start to take down the scaffold that we used to create the 'Cathedral structure' it allows us to share this Cathedral scale ecosystem with you. Reboundog's positioning is now crystal clear.
In our last edition Building a Cathedral in a Garden Shed I described how I'd allowed Reboundog to limit it's potential by focusing on becoming primarily a Pet Advocacy Membership Group aka the Garden Shed. My original vision was for Reboundog to be a global ecosystem wherein participants would collaborate to create a more inclusive society for both humans & animals; of which the human-animal bond is a fantastic tool to help that progress. But & It's a BIG BUT, it's not the only solution, & thinking of solutions I never envisioned Reboundog becoming a diagnostic solutions provider in for example animal rescue.
As we start to take down the scaffold that we used to create the 'Cathedral structure' it allows us to share this Cathedral scale ecosystem with you.
Reboundog's positioning is now crystal clear.
Most social-impact organisations try to deliver solutions. Most innovation organisations try to design solutions. Most community organisations try to support solutions.
Reboundog does something rarer and more catalytic: we create the conditions in which solutions can emerge.
Reboundog is not the "producer" of humane innovation - it is the soil in which humane innovation grows.

3 Values
Reboundog Values: How We Show Up in the World
At Reboundog, our work is built on the belief that meaningful change happens when people feel safe enough to speak honestly, curious enough to explore new ideas, and open enough to collaborate across boundaries. Our values aren’t abstract statements — they shape every conversation we host, every partnership we build, and every community we serve.
Trust
Trust is the foundation of everything we do. We create spaces where people can show up as themselves — whether they’re a social entrepreneur, a pet professional, a nonprofit leader, or a tech innovator. Our Sofa Meet‑ups and multi‑guest Sofa Podcasts are designed to feel like a living room, not a lecture hall. When people feel trusted and respected, they share more openly, listen more deeply, and build the kind of relationships that lead to real, long‑term impact. Trust allows us to tackle difficult issues with honesty and compassion.
Curious
Curiosity drives our approach to change. We believe the most powerful solutions emerge when we ask better questions, challenge assumptions, and explore perspectives we may not have considered before. Curiosity helps us move beyond “the way things have always been done” and into new territory — where humane innovation, commercial thinking, and community wellbeing can coexist. It’s why our conversations bring together voices from different sectors and different lived experiences. Curiosity keeps us learning, evolving, and imagining what’s possible.
Transparent
Transparency keeps us grounded and accountable. We communicate clearly about our intentions, our decisions, and the challenges we’re working to address. In a world where trust is often eroded by hidden agendas or closed‑door conversations, we choose openness. Transparency helps us build credibility with the communities we serve and ensures that our work remains aligned with our mission: creating humane, commercially viable solutions for excluded human and animal communities.
4 Pillars
Reboundog: The Ecosystem Where Humane Innovation Emerges
Reboundog convenes cross‑sector leaders, practitioners, and innovators to explore how humane approaches can transform systems, communities, and organisations. Our work is grounded in four strategic pillars that guide our partnerships, programming, and impact.
🌱 1. Humane Innovation & Systems Change
We explore how humane approaches can reshape complex systems and create conditions for innovation to emerge.
Commercial relevance: Foundations, Local authorities, Social innovation labs, CSR teams, Universities, Think tanks.
Our role: A cross‑sector convenor shaping humane futures.
🐾 2. Human–Animal Wellbeing & Ethical Practice
We bridge human wellbeing and animal wellbeing, advancing ethical practice across sectors.
Commercial relevance: Animal Assisted Intervention (AAI) organisations, Veterinary sector, Pet‑tech, Animal welfare charities, Mental health services, Wellbeing providers.
Our role: A connector between human and animal wellbeing ecosystems.
🌍 3. Purpose‑Driven Business & Social Impact
We support organisations seeking humane, ethical, and socially aligned innovation.
Commercial relevance: B‑Corps, Social enterprises, ESG teams, Impact investors, Corporate innovation units.
Our role: A platform for businesses committed to humane leadership and impact.
🤝 4. Inclusive Society & Cross‑Sector Collaboration
We convene diverse sectors to strengthen inclusive society and relational infrastructure.
Commercial relevance: Local councils, Health & social care, Community organisations, Regeneration projects, Universities, Public‑sector innovation teams.
Our role: A relational space for community‑centred innovation.
4 Seat Convening Framework
Where the magic happens in both our Sofa Podcasts and our Sofa Meetups.
I've struggled probably all my life to be labelled, as I believe it creates pre-judgement by the person reading or listening without understanding who the real person is under the label. As I nudge towards my 7th decade I may just be mellowing as 'system convenor' is probably the truest label you can pin on me.
Systems conveners look at the social landscape in which they operate—an organization, a big challenge, a city, a community, a field, a country, the world—and they see unrealized potential across traditional boundaries and silos. Their stance is both visionary and pragmatic. They work to open spaces for new kinds of conversations between people on different sides of a boundary, for example, a geographic, cultural, disciplinary, political, organizational, or social class boundary. https://www.wenger-trayner.com/systems-convening/
In both our Sofa Podcasts and our Sofa Meetups we convene a multi-guest format.
[ 1. ANCHOR EXPERT ]
Deep subject authority who sets the centre of gravity for the conversation.
[ 2. CONTRASTING SECTOR ]
Brings a different worldview, sector, or discipline to create productive tension and fresh insight.
[ 3. PRACTITIONER ]
Brings lived experience, grounding, and real‑world accountability.
[ 4. WILDCARD ]
Opens the horizon with ethics, futures, philosophy, or cultural insight.
-----------------------------------------
HOW IT WORKS:
• Anchor Expert = depth
• Contrasting Sector = creative tension
• Practitioner = grounding
• Wildcard = expansion
Together, they create the conditions for humane innovation to emerge naturally.
4 Events
Why we exist - the problem Reboundog is solving
Across the world — and especially here in Cumbria, UK — human and animal wellbeing challenges are deeply intertwined. Poverty, isolation, trauma and lack of opportunity affect people and animals in parallel, yet the systems designed to support them often operate in silos. Nonprofits work tirelessly with limited resources. Businesses want to contribute but lack pathways to meaningful impact. Innovators and entrepreneurs have ideas but struggle to connect with the communities who need them.
This fragmentation means that even the most dedicated efforts rarely reach the root causes. Wicked societal problems persist not because people don’t care, but because the right people aren’t connected in the right ways.
Reboundog exists to change that.
We convene the people and perspectives needed for humane, commercially viable solutions to emerge — not by producing them ourselves, but by creating the conditions in which they can take shape.
By building an ecosystem rather than a single‑issue campaign, we’re laying the groundwork for long‑term systemic change — for humans, for animals, and for the communities they share.

Reboundog publishes dates in advance so our community can plan ahead. Topics and guests emerge closer to each event, guided by what’s most relevant in the field of humane innovation at that moment. This keeps our conversations alive, timely, and grounded in what the ecosystem actually needs. https://reboundog.com/events-spotlight/

Casual Conversations

Casual Conversations (LinkedIn Newsletter) My personal philosophical ecosystem — a monthly reflection exploring how conversations reshape systems through humane, cross‑sector innovation. This is where I write from the front line of curiosity: the thinker, the observer, the ecosystem‑weaver. It’s not organisational news, but the sense‑making space where I explore the ideas, patterns, and questions that underpin Reboundog’s wider work.
Reboundog News

Reboundog News is the space where we share the stories, ideas, and patterns emerging across our cathedral‑scale ecosystem: the partnerships forming, the insights surfacing, and the shifts taking shape as people come together across sectors. This is the organisational voice of Reboundog — the place where we make visible the work, the learning, and the long‑term architecture behind humane, commercially viable systems change.

⭐ Partnerships— Why Our Convening Method Is Unique
Reboundog’s convening method is unique because we don’t host panels — we curate cross‑sector encounters and and transform them into a continuous stream of insight‑rich media. Our 4‑Seat Convening Framework brings together an Anchor Expert, a Contrasting Sector voice, a Practitioner, and a Wildcard thinker to create the conditions where humane innovation emerges naturally. This structure dissolves silos, sparks unexpected insight, and brings marginalised perspectives into the centre of the conversation. Partners support not just events, but a distinctive convening ecosystem that generates inclusion, connection, and fresh thinking across human, animal, and societal boundaries.
